the Beelady-Kim Lehman

A childhood in rural America and teaching experiences in the Appalachian Mountains have inspired a life-long interest in folk traditions including storytelling, oral histories, music, dance, wood carving, herbal remedies and beekeeping.

 

Kim now lives in Austin, Texas with Mark Wieland multi-talented husband and partner, Rags the Wonder Dog, Makita the fox/dingo dog look alike, Blossom the retired performing pig, a score of feral chickens, and 80,000 honey bees.

 

Kim Lehman is the coordinator of the Kids and Bees program, an informative program about honeybees for children of all ages at the American Beekeeping Federation Conventions. She has been a speaker for a number of state conventions and has recently published a series of articles about educating children about honey bees. Kim is a professional storyteller and musician with a Texas teaching certificate.

 

  • Certified teacher in the state of Texas with an Early Childhood Endorsement.

  • Professional storyteller, musician and puppeteer

  • Experience working with children for over 25 years

  • Founder and coordinator of the Kids and Bees Program, an informative program about honeybees for children of all ages at the American Beekeeping Federation Conventions since 1995. Other responsibilities include media liaison and volunteer coordinator.

  • Published a series of articles in “Bee Culture”, a national beekeeping publication.

  • Past president, education director and newsletter editor for the Capitol Area Honey Bee Stewards
